German para boots are arguably the best and most sought-after footwear in used condition. The Germans are renowned for their build quality and their boots live up to their reputation.
Made from high quality supple leather, these boots offer great levels of comfort, durability and breathability. The soles offer high levels of grip, while having anti static and oil resistant properties. The tongue is sewn in which limits movement and also keeps sand and dirt out of the boot.
Whilst not fully waterproof, these boots are highly water resistant and your feet should stay dry in most conditions. Other features include reinforced heel and toe areas, as well as an Achilles flex panel which aids in natural movement.
Any general military issue boot is built to withstand tough conditions, but the para boot excels. It is very popular today with motorcyclists as a comfortable, stylish boot that resists wear from gear shifting and offers high levels of warmth when coupled with thick socks. Fashionable and practical, this boot can be used for walking/hiking, field use, at work or for casual day to day use.
The exact design may vary slightly from that pictured as we hold stock of various different models, in particular the sole may be stitched or moulded. All are subject to availability. The boots at the smaller end of the size range do come up quite large.

Q & A's
Q & A's
Q: What condition are they in? The photos show unused boots.
A: They are in a variety of conditions - we don't guarantee cosmetic appearance just that they are undamaged and still wearable. The photos are actually of a used pair - you can see some dirt on the sole!
Q: are these boots thick sole or thin like the pic.
A: As they are used, the soles will have different amounts of wear, but most will have a good amount of tread left on them.
Q: please could u tell me how wide these boots are at the widest part.
A: On average the approx width measurement is coming up at 4.5 inches or 11cm
Q: does the german para boot follow the british sizes? does the size 7.5 be size 8 1/2 in the u.s. size?
A: The boots are actually sized in the German mondopoint scale, and we convert to UK sizes which are indeed one less than the US equivalents.
Q: are these boots new or used???
A: They are used.
Q: How well are these boots sized?, being European are they slightly smaller or larger than British sized footwear, or the same?
A: These are originally sized on the European Mondopoint scale, and we then convert to the nearest approximate UK size.
Q: Would these boots be suitable for trekking on hills & moorland - how waterproof are they etc?
A: They would be suitable for this use as they have good ankle support. They are water repellant but not fully waterproof. You may consider using them with a goretex boot liner.
Q: This product is it steel toe?
A: No.
Q: Do you surply the complete soles for this product?
A: If you mean do they come with soles, then yes. If you mean do we sell the soles separately, then no.
Q: Any ideas whether these are lighter or heavier than the current issue brit boots?
A: For size 8's, German Para boots weigh 1.98kg, and British Assault boots weigh 1.54kg.

Treat them well and they will treat you well
These boot are great quality ....only a few scuffs, top notch, very very comfortable indeed. You will need to treat them to get the best from them ...... first rub off the polish ... apply a leather cream ( i use gliptone liquid leather conditioner and waterproofer) let dry for a day then do the same again. Then apply a beeswax and oil (renapur balsam) let dry again then a couple of thin coatings of grangers G-wax. Fit some arch support insoles and maybe new laces (although the originals are still fine) and you should have some excellent boots for many many years. I'm really happy with my purchase. Thanks go to mean and green.
Pros: Excellent value, Top quality leather, Comfy,
Cons: I can't find any cons yet

Excellent
I've had a pair of these for several years now and although it took a while for me to break them in and really get into wearing them, I now find they are my go to walking boots. I walk an average 10 miles per day. I have Meindls, Karrimors, Brashers Storms and a very expensive pair of Altbergs but I find I always end up in my para boots. They are so comfortable,I can walk for miles and miles; they support my ankles brilliantly and have superb traction. As for not being waterproof; I regularly wax them and can confirm that I wade through deep puddles and Bogs on the moors and so far have no leaks to report. Highly recommend.
Pros: Warmth, Grip, Look great, Price, Comfort
Cons: Weight, Definitely not summer boots...!
Sizing: Feels about right

Should have bought a pair years ago.
I was unsure what to expect when I unpacked my German Para boots from Mean and Green, I’ve seen some unpleasant piles of boots at bike shows and rallies over the years – a lot of them white with damp and mould. What I received was a pair of well cared for boots in excellent condition – even the laces were in first rate condition. I took time to look over the boots with care and was delighted to find they were as good as they looked. Only a couple of marks on the toecaps, loads (years?) of wear on the soles and not the slightest trace of odour (neither damp or ‘feet’). Better yet, I found they were leather lined inside, luxury and better than the £195 pair I’ve been wearing. Ultimate test, put them on and wear them, which I did for a morning around the fields and with horses. So comfortable I have to credit ‘KC’ for the work he (or she) put into breaking the boots in. I wish I’d bought a pair years ago, I’m looking forward to warm toes come winter and am surprised at how cool they’ve been in the recent heat wave. I would definitely recommend these boots and thank Mean and Green for the care and skill they take in sourcing their stock.
Pros: Pleasure to wear., Better than I'd hoped for., Great condition,
Cons: Not a thing!

On opening the well wrapped package (which was left exactly where I wanted it due to me not being home ) I found a really nice pair of german para boots . I didn't know what to expect on the condition side of things , but I didn't need to worry , a nice supple pair of boots in nice very usable condition. I take a size 11 medium british combat boot , the german boots I ordered were 11.5 and a perfect fit . I could not be happier with the order , service , and speed of delivery . top notch stuff.

Great Boots
Really well made and comfortable. I usually take a size 11 in other Boots when wearing thickish socks but these were size 10 (Marked 285 on sole)and fitted perfectly much to my surprise. These Boots look as if they have had about a year of their life regarding wear. So they should last me for 4 years ...a real bargain if they do.

Best boots ever
I was looking for a long time for a pair of tuff boots that could stand up to the demands I put on my foot where I stand six foot seven and weigh 300 pounds, I have always bin a fan of English boots but they only last a year or less and American boots last about six months or so, after many hours of internet research I came across a review of these boots and decided to give them a try, I ordered a new pair of these boots and received them about to weeks later, living in the mid west of America I could not find them at any store andhave yet to see anyone else with a pair, they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned no break in needed, a year and a half later and they still look and perform like new, great support from the mean and green staff from the time I put the order in, thanks a lot!

Disappointed.
I've long since wanted a new set of Para boots and since I play airsoft regularly it seemed the perfect choice not only in terms of comfort but also it fitted perfectly with my German army/Bundeswehr look. Sadly, when the boots arrived I immediately noticed the sole had been replaced (which is fine) but the lower had gaps which were coming away from the upper sole which meant they had been poorly resoled. I would have sent them back but they had no more in my size. I fired Mean and Green a few emails and they said it was normal and something that could be fixed with Shoe Goo. They sent me the Shoe Goo, free of charge which was fantastic customer service on their part! But having now used these boots, for a maximum of a week the glue has given up on two separate occasions and just splits away from the upper. It is such a shame as they are comfy and the upper leather is in great condition with no missing eyelets. I am not sure if the Shoe Goo that I was sent is the correct stuff as the company makes a few different strength's of their glue but this stuff just doesn't hold. A really shame about both the glue and the boots! What makes it worse, is that a friend got a set from Mean and Green after me which hadn't been resoled and they are in perfect condition. Disappointed to say the least!
Pros: Hard wearing (Leather), Warm, Comfortable
Cons: Poor sole replacement, Poor glue used
Would recommend: No
Follow-up by Meanandgreen: Sorry to hear of your difficulties with these boots Dougie. Only some of the boots have been re-soled, and shoe goo does normally fix any problems. The size you ordered is a very scarce size but we will let you know if and when we get another pair in and see what we can do for you then.

Very pleased indeed
Received my boots a week ago. They appear to be the mk 4 with stitched on sole, rather than glued and no speed lacing system. They are in excellent condition, do not appear to have ever been worn, out of box condition. They are very comfortable, which im very surprised by as im still breaking them in. They appear brilliant value, and although its early days, they feel bomb proof. An advantage of the stitched sole maybe that it will be easy to replace when worn out, ive seen some cases of vibram soles been used for this, and will negate the need for breaking in another pair ofboots. Im usually a size 9-10 these are a 8.5 and fit fine. Ive heard some people say they are heavy, they certainly feel solid, however im used to wearing public order boots and these feel lighter and more responsive. All in all im very pleased, ill again after a few months wear.

Das Boots!
£40 for used boots? I started feeling buyer's remorse the moment I hit 'Buy'. And then they arrived. These are the best boots I have ever owned. Amazingly comfortable, reassuringly heavy and solidly constructed. Nothing rubs and the outward signs of previous use (worn tread and some minor digs in the leather) add to their visual appeal. I normally wear a size 9 boot, but there weren't any left in this size, so I opted for an 8.5. It's plenty big enough, even with thick socks. Oh, and they're really wide too, which I particularly appreciate. I guess it's pot luck just how much wear and tear each pair of boots has suffered. Perhaps I was lucky, but based on my experience I'd have to give this kit a definite whoop.

I guess I got a rogue pair
I bought these last October and I was largely influenced by the 5 star reviews left by other customers. The boots are comfortable and a decent fit but after only a few wear the sole of the heel became detached. I attempted a repair using 'Shoo Goo' on the recomendation of 'Mean & Green' without success. The upper part of the sole has begun to perish and I think that is preventing a decent bond forming. Now the other boot has the same problem with the complete sole coming away. Based on my pair I couldn't recommend these. I could pay to get them repaired professionally but that would probably cost more than I paid for them and with the upper half of the sole becoming perished I doubt that they'd last very long anyway.
Pros: The upper boot is comfortable
Cons: Upper sole perished, Heel fell off, Unusable after a few wears, Soles becoming detached

I'm really pleased with these boots, which seem to be increasingly difficult to find, especially for a reasonable price. I've found that other boots can pinch my toes after a bit. These German Paras instead are roomy at the toe, allowing me to clomp around comfortably in all weathers. The pair I received have some wear on the heel, which is only to be expected for used equipment. The uppers and the rest of the sole, however, were in a good, clean condition. Germans really do it better
Bought these boots 2 days ago, They arrived today and I have to say that I am nothing short of amazed with them. Being in the military I have tried different styles boots (Magnum and Haix) and I found them to be wanting( not durable enough, too heavy etc.) These para boots are incredibly well made, extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear also too my surprise, they had a steel toe cap. If anything I will be putting them to the test, but already I know they will not fail me. I will have to invest in another pair quite soon just so I don't miss the chance to have another before they are gone.

Regarding the condition - They had traces of mud on the soles, so I know they have been worn; but the insides looked new. I would guess they've only had a weeks use in their life!

Unbeatable
Right ..... Firstly I really like the look of these boots they have great proportions ie sole thickness, toe cap height and the lace up width gives them a very secure feel. They have good grip And a nice flex section in the heel which allows better ankle articulation, mine came looking new, smelling new and feel like trainers from first wear , apart from not being as cusionable. This was expected and to be honest I would not have wanted over cushioned boots I think they give less stability. If you are looking for an all leather boot, class comfort with a generous wide fitting Then this is the boot . Can't wait till they have had some wear and they get really really comfy , I would pay double for a pair of these ..... At least . I paid over £110 for my lowa boots they are now wearing out from the inside . Cant see that happening with these. Top rate service from the site too would recommend product and retailer
