Further Information
Blitz was the name given during World War II to the German attempt to force the United Kingdom to surrender by bombing its chief cities. The Blitz began on September 7th, 1940 with a heavy daylight raid on London followed by a night raid. On December 28th, 1940 the German air force, dropped 22,000 fire bombs on London, transforming large parts of the city into a huge inferno. Amongst those cities worst hit was Coventry, which was badly damaged during a single raid in November 1940. London was raided every night from September 7th to November 2nd. The last big raid on London was on May 10th, 1941 when the House of Commons was gutted.
This ORIGINAL bronze George VI farthing is attached to a card with an image of a Stuker Divebomber on the front and historical information on the reverse.
The exact date of the coin may vary, but will be from the WW2 period.
