Further Information
Further Information
  • Genuine issue, Russian Army
  • Heavyweight material
  • 2 exterior hip pockets
  • 1 interior chest pocket
  • Belt at rear
  • 4 metal 'hook and loop' type fastenings
  • 4 decorative buttons on split at bottom rear of coat
We are delighted to be able to offer these rare genuine issue Russian great coats at an excellent price. We discovered these coats in a Russian warehouse where they have been lying since the 1970's! However, they are all unissued and unworn. The material is heavyweight and good quality. It also has that coarse look which should appeal to re-enactors.
The belt at the rear of the coat can be detached. With the belt attached the coat is pulled together to be smaller than the stated sizes. With the belt removed this coat is quite generously sized.
The fastening down the front is another unusual feature of this coat. There are round cloth pieces where you would normally expect buttons to be. These conceal a metal loop that holds a hook on the other side to fasten the coat together.
Please note the coloured flashes may be a different colour than that pictured and may be on just the collar or both the collar and shoulder.
Why not wear with one of our winter cossack hats to complete the image?
Q & A's
Q & A's
Q: I'm trying to decide whether I would be better going for regular or long, I'm 6'1", would the long be too long?
A: A regular length coat measures approximately 4' 4.5" and a long length 4' 5.75" when measured from the top of the neck at the back to the bottom of the hem.
Q: I was wondering what the length of the Extra Short might be. I'm 163 cm and trying to figure out which of the two shorter lengths I should choose.
A: The X-Short length measures 50" from the top at the back to the bottom of the hem.
Q: How high is the rehualr and what state is the coat colour in?
A: The coat colour is in a fine state. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what a rehualr is.
Q: Is this coat made out of wool if not what is it made out of thanks.
A: There is no label on the garment indicating what the material is made from but it certainly looks and feels like wool.
Q: Hi, are these fully lined inside and could you tell me the pit to pit measurement on the 100cm/39"? Regards, S.
A: These coats are only lined to approximately waist level. The 39" coat measured from armpit to armpit is 21.5".

Excellent - Spot-on
I bought 3 of these coats for re-enacting and all are excellent items and very warm. They will probably be getting muddy at War + Peace show this year.
Pros: Warm, Well made, Great value
Cons: Pity they're not in larger size
Sizing: Feels about right
Would recommend: Yes

Great is an understatment, it should be AWESOME Coat!
To step out into snow, and not feel the cold is something I'm not used to. Finally I've found a coat that does just that for me :-D I'm 5ft 3inches, and the x-short coat is a perfect length, also as it only fastens on the body section, my girlie hips have no issues with the bottom of the coat. I'm more that happy, and I've made my husband jealous as he couldn't get one in his size ;-)
Pros: Genuine, Good quality, Warm
Cons: Heavy
Sizing: Feels about right
Would recommend: Yes

Great Quality Coat
I've been shopping around awhile and this is the best deal I've found for a Soviet greatcoat so far! I was pleased with the coat, the material is thick and warm while the pockets are big. The coat fits perfectly and I would definitely recommend this product!
Pros: Good Quality, Warm
Cons: Heavy
Sizing: Feels about right
Would recommend: Yes

Excellent!
I bought the 96cm regular length coat, at 5ft 9" the lower hem is about half way down my ankles so a perfect length. The fit is very good and the coat comfortable, it doesn't impede movement at all and the fastenings are quite secure. The collar can be turned up and when done is very high, ideal for shielding your neck from the cold and snow. The coat is probably best worn over something that has a collar or perhaps along with a scarf or snood/headover as the wool is quite coarse on the neck and might bug someone with sensitive skin, elsewhere the coat is lined so it isn't an issue. The pockets are very generous also. Overall I am very happy and would certainly recommend this coat.
Pros: Good fit, Comfortable, Warm
Cons: None for me
Sizing: Feels about right
Would recommend: Yes
