The original US military watch specification MIL-W-46374 was published on 30 October 1964. The objective of this specification was to set out the basic requirements for a straightforward low cost watch to be issued to the military.
In the 1990s, with a massive reduction in the number of US military watches being issued to soldiers, MWC began to receive more and more calls from serving military asking if they knew where they could obtain one of these original models.
So MWC decided in 1994 that it made sense to make a more durable and maintainable product but still at a competitive price. In order to achieve this they upgraded the design from the original plastic case to metal and the movement from a cheap mechanical to a reliable and accurate quartz alternative. The primary goal was to retain the exact appearance of the original but bring it up to date. The result is this MKVI model.
This watch is faithfully based on these original US specifications and was issued to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This watch is made by MWC who are one of the leading suppliers of official watches to the military, police forces and government departments worldwide. There are many over-priced imitations on the market, but we guarantee that this watch is a genuine MWC model.
