Specifically developed for issue to the British military, these Altberg Defender Combat Boots are water repellent and have a fast drying, and ultra breathable Cambrelle lining. The Vibram sole has a micro shock absorbing midlayer, to reduce impact on joints when running.
Together with the Haix Scout boots, these are the new issue boots designed to be worn with the MTP uniform.
These boots fall within the MOD's specification for "Boots Combat High Liability (BCHL)". The official specification states "The BCHL is primarily for intensive combat use, although it may also be used for lightweight patrolling. Terrain including field, track, road, rubble and rock. The area of use and terrain embraces climatic areas A3 and C0 as described in Defence Standard 00-35 (Part 4); this covers temperatures ranging from -10°C to +35°C and 0%rH to 80%rH. The extremes of this range will be for short periods of use and in combination i.e. with Warm Weather or Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) socks and GS Gaiter."
Based in Yorkshire, Alt-Berg have a proud history dating back to the 1920s. Today they make some of the best boots in Europe. Their boots are a testament to skills and knowledge built up over many years.
These are used boots and so may arrive with some mud and/or scuffs and scratches, but they are very rugged and so have plenty of life left in them. We cannot offer any guarantees as to the cosmetic condition of these boots.

Hmmmm!
I've had a pair of these for about 12 months now so they have had a good road test. They are a replacement pair as the initial boot at normal size were too narrow int the toe (my fault, I didn't scroll down the product screen far enough to see the advice given by Mean and Green). overall and despite dog damage I am fairly pleased with them THOUGH I am disappointed with the sole. Surprisingly they slip and slide on slick surfaces such as wet stone, rock, pebbles, surface mud. Not what I would expect from army issue, so mid rating.
Pros: Good and solid boot
Cons: Slips on slick surfaces
Sizing: Feels about right
Would recommend: Yes

A Bit of a Compromise
Thrilled to receive my pair of boots(purchased from m&g) in good condition.a little scuff here and there and a little bit of wear in the sole but otherwise okay. just a bit disappointed to read in the commercial invoice, country of manufacture:china. i understand that today its all about outsourcing and cost of labor but if this is true then altberg should start sending out disclaimers like apple: Designed in the UK assembled in China. for that i give it three stars out of five.
Pros: Still in good condition,reliable
Cons: Made in China.
Would recommend: Yes
Follow-up by Meanandgreen: Hi Ryan, actually that was a mistake on the invoice. Altberg boots are made in Yorkshire, UK!
