Peter Edmundson's wonderfully tender and distinctively flavoured hill-bred Herdwick mutton combines most satisfyingly with chunky veg and pearl barley for a hearty meal with an honourable past. These rare breed Herdwicks spend most of the year roaming wild on the Lake District fells, where they graze to their heart's content on herbs and hill top vegetation. In this ration meal, the mutton is perfectly partnered by pearl barley and root veg.

Prepared in batches and then slow cooked in traditional steam pressure cookers.
