The George Cross is the highest gallantry award for civiliand and for members of the armed forces in actions where purely military honours would not normally be granted.
A plain bordeds cross with circular medallion in the centre depicting the St George and the Dragon, surrounded by the words FOR GALLANTRY. In the angle of each limb is the Royal cypher GVI.
This reproduction George Cross Medal is made from silver plated lead-free pewter. It is supplied on a blue ribbon attached to a card with an image of a Spitfire engaging Ju 87's over Malta on the front and historical information on the reverse.
